How do I set up CarPlay on my Peugeot 3008?

The Peugeot 3008 is a mid-sized multi- award winning family SUV. In Australia, three variants of this car are sold, and they come packed with a host various technological features that help elevate the feel and safety of the driving experience.

One of the key features in the interior of the Peugeot 3008 is the i-Cockpit, which includes an 8″ capacitive colour touchscreen (functioning as an in-car entertainment and communication control unit), 12.3″ configurable digital head up instrument panel and a compact sports steering wheel.

The MirrorScreen System (MirrorLink®, Android Auto® & Apple Carplay®) allows the mirroring of a compatible smartphone screen to access the key functionality on the handset. Once paired, functions are displayed on the 8.0″ touchscreen located on the centre console.

Today we will be talking specifically about Apple CarPlay®.

What is CarPlay®?

Apple CarPlay® allows you to continue to use your iPhone while driving, by mirroring your smartphone screen the 8” multi-function colour touchscreen – so whatever controls your touchscreen controls CarPlay® too. You’ll also notice that your apps have been reimagined for use within your car.

Functions can either be controlled via the touchscreen or Siri voice control.

What can I do with CarPlay®?

CarPlay® lets you do everything you might expect and more – get directions, make and receive calls, send and receive messages, listen to voicemails and listen to music, while always ensuring you stay focused with your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel.

CarPlay® also features Siri voice control specifically tailored for typical driving questions or scenarios, like weather or traffic conditions.

You can access all your own music from your iTunes account or your Apple Music membership from your touchscreen, and even get Siri to play your favourite song or act as your own personal DJ.

What iPhones are compatible?

CarPlay® is compatible with iPhone 5 and above. Please make sure your phone is updated with the latest version of iOS, and remember CarPlay® uses your phone data.

That’s Cool! How do I set up CarPlay®?

Setting up Apple CarPlay® with the Peugeot 3008’s MirrorScreen System is couldn’t be simpler – first make sure Siri is enabled on your iPhone and the phone is on. Then connect your iPhone using a USB cable (such as the one supplied with your phone) into the USB socket located below the touchscreen on the centre console.

The first time you connect your phone, a message may appear asking if you want to connect to CarPlay® – select ‘Allow’.

You should now see what looks like your iPhone appear on the touchscreen. It will have the most commonly used apps on there, such as Phone, Messages, Music, Now Playing, Podcasts, Spotify and Apple Maps for navigation. Note that for safety reasons, Apple has limited the number of apps to those that do not require focus on the screen.

And that’s it! You now essentially access the apps as how you would on your iPhone, either by pressing the icons on the touchscreen or calling upon your digital friend with a little “Hey Siri!”,
